Gamba Osaka’s coach Akira Nishino insists his team will not sit back on its 3-nil first leg lead over Adelaide United when the two clubs meet in the second leg of the Asian Champions League final on Wednesday night.

Gamba smashed the Reds 3-0 in Japan last week and Nishino believes an early goal to his side would finish off Adelaide’s already slim hopes.

United coach Aurelio Vidmar’s options are limited and claims he will have just fifteen players available for selection.

“We’ve just got to do the best with the numbers we have,” Vidmar said.

“We know it’s a very difficult task, but you’ve still got to believe anything’s possible.”

First choice goalkeeper Eugene Galekovic is suspended, leaving youngster Mark Birighitti as the only available recognised keeper.

Adelaide will be without the experience of suspended Angelo Costanzo, while defender Daniel Mullen is away on Young Socceroos duty.

Midfielders Paul Reid and Fabian Barbiero return to fitness. Reid is likely to start the match, pushing Lucas Pantelis to the bench, while veteran Michael Valkanis will come into the depleted backline.

The match at Hindmarsh Stadium was sold out well in advance of the 1st-leg result.

For those who missed out on tickets the match will be shown LIVE on a big screen in Adelaide at Elder Park, next to the Festival Theatre along the Torrens River on King William Road.

Regardless of the result on Wednesday night, Adelaide United is inviting all of its supporters to join the team in celebrating the club’s achievements in the AFC Champions League with a free event at Hindmarsh Stadium on Thursday, November 13, 4.30-7.30pm.

Adelaide United FC Squad: 5.Michael VALKANIS, 6.CASSIO, 7.Lucas PANTELIS, 8.Kristian SARKIES, 10.CRISTIANO, 13.Travis DODD, 14.Scott JAMIESON, 18.Robert CORNTHWAITE, 19.Sasa OGNENOVSKI, 20.Mark BIRIGHITTI (GK), 21.Jason SPAGNUOLO, 22.DIEGO, 24.Paul REID, 25.Robert YOUNIS, 26.Fabian BARBIERO.
