Adelaide United favourites to progress against Binh Duong in ACL

ADELAIDE United are confident ahead of their ACL match against Vietnamese club Becamex Binh Duong at Hindmarsh Stadium tonight. A win tonight will put Adelaide in the box sear to progress to the knockout phase of the Asian Champions League.

ACL: Melbourne Victory with nothing to lose against Gamba Osaka

The Reds are so far undefeated in this years competition with 2 wins a draw. They are hoping to become the first Aussie club to make it through to the next round.

“We’ve taken a pretty big step over the past three games and we need to continue to do that, which means getting total points tomorrow night,” Vidmar said.

“Our goal is to reach the second round and we’re really pleased with where we are at this point of time but we can’t underestimate anyone. That will be the big key because if you are just going to pull your handbrake up then you’re going to have all sorts of problems.”

Adelaide United have received a massive boost for tonight’s game with the news that marquee Paul Agostino and also Kristian Sarkies have recovered from injuries and will be present in the squad for tonight’s match. Sarkies has been out for the last four months with Deep Vein Thrombosis but is looking likely to start the match in the place of Jason Spagnuolo, who has dropped out with a knee injury.

Paul Agostino on the other hand has not played since December and will most likely start on the bench for the Reds.

Binh Duong are currently last in the group and are all but out of this year’s competition but Coach Aurelio Vidmar has warned his players that they will be out to cause problems as they have nothing to lose.
