Adelaide United win 2-1 in ACL

Adelaide United LogoADELAIDE United stay top of their group in the Asian Champions League with a solid 2-1 win over Binh Duong of Vietnam.

Diego put the visitors ahead in the 10th minute and then Richie Alagich doubled the reds lead in the 77th minute to make the 3-points safe. An 86th minute consolation goal was scored by Binh Duong’s best player on the night, Kubheka Philani.

Any chance of getting something from the game went down the toilet after Brazilian Robson De Lima was sent off for a second yellow card late in the match.

Adelaide had control of the game from the outset and succeeded in slowing the game down which suited them perfectly in the oppressive humidity.Despite this win, Adelaide are still a way off from securing passage to the next round as Changchun Yatai also scored a victory against Pohang Steelers of Korea. They won this match 1-0 which puts them in 2nd place only by goal difference.

“Binh Duong were well structured and knew their game, they really don’t push you a lot, wait for you to make a mistake and then attack hard on the counter,” Adelaide coach Aurelio Vidmar said.
