SALOMON Kalou has finally put Aussie Football fans and the Olyroos out of their misery by scoring the only goal of the game last night against a poor Graham Arnold side.

Ivory Coast secured second spot with this 1-0 win against Australia and now cruise into the quarter-final stage of the Olympic tournament.

Chelsea player Kalou, who plays in the English Premier League with Chelsea, powered his shot into the top right corner in the 80th-minute after recieving a cross from the Ivory Coast captain, Gervinho

Arnold decided to start with strikers Mark Bridge and Nikita Rukavytsya but they couldn’t capitalise on their chances during an active first-half.

Matt Simon was drafted into the team for the injured Archie Thompson who was sent back to Melbourne and was subbed on late in the game.

A dissapointing tournament allround from the Green & Gold which stemmed from the uninspiring sqaud selections of Graham Arnold.
