Roar set to switch base
Queensland Roar today announced that they are moving their administration and training base to Ballymore, which is also the home of Rugby Union’s Queensland Reds.
The Roar will abandon their current Richlands venue during the next fortnight and will base their operations at Ballymore from November 3.
“Ballymore provides not only a quality training venue, but also makes the club more centrally located for both our loyal fans and corporate partners.” said Roar chief executive Lawrence Oudendyk.
“We would like to thank Queensland Rugby Union for the opportunity to move to Ballymore and look forward to developing a strong relationship with such a professional organisation.
“People think because we are rival codes we should be competing, but we both represent Queensland in national competitions and we feel this can be a mutually beneficial relationship.”
Mr Oudendyk said the move did not signal a change of venue for match days, with the club continuing its current agreement with Suncorp Stadium for Hyundai A-League fixtures.
