Socceroos replace Japan as Asia’s highest ranked team

The Socceroos are now ranked above Japan as Asia’s highest-ranked team after the latest FIFA world rankings were released.

Australia are now ranked 35th in the world up 8 places from 43rd while Japan have dropped once place to be ranked 38th.

Argentina have remained as the best ranked country by extending their lead over Brazil.

World Champions Italy stay in 3rd sport while Euro Champs Greece stay in 8th place.
England who missed out on qualification into this month’s Euro 2008 are interestingly ranked 9th in the world after famous victories against high quality opposition like the USA and Trinidad and Tobago.
