AUSTRALIA have defeated Holland 2-1 in this morning’s friendly match played in The Netherlands. Huntelaar put the home side ahead in just the 6th minute but Australia worked their way back into the game with a penalty on the stroke of half-time thanks to a terrible back-pass that was pounced on by Kennedy. He was brought down by the keeper which resulted in a red card which Kewell duly slotted away.

Josh Kennedy then completed the shock result with a fine header in the 75th minute thanks to a pin-point cross from Russia-bound Luke Wilkshire.

This is only the second loss suffered by the Dutch in Eindhoven in over 13 years.
