Young Socceroos get spanked in AFC Semi against UAE

UNITED Arab Emirates have crushed Australia 3-0 in the AFC Under-19 Championship Semi-Finals at the Prince Mohammed bin Fahad Stadium on Tuesday.

It was 2-0 by the 12th-minute thanks to goals from Ahmed Khalil and Rashed Essa and Abdul Hussain made it 3-0 with a well taken goal with just five minutes remaining to take them to the Friday’s final against Uzbekistan.

Australia should have made it 2-1 just before half-time when Oliver Bozancic passed to Victor Jason who failed to connect with the ball with the goal mouth open.
Jason could have redeemed himself a minute later but his powerful strike was denied by the left upright.

The Young Socceroos went on to blow another 2 or 3 chances in the second-half and should have at least troubled the scorers but their run to the final was ended when the UAE sealed the win five minutes from time.

Hamdan Ismaeel’s powerful free-kick was saved by Redmayne but fell nicely for Abdulaziz Hussain to tuck the ball into the empty net.
